Rugby play that is not about rugby! As noted in ‘About Us’ Ken wrote a play called ‘Dangle In The Dust’ and had it performed to critical acclaim at The Customs House South Shields, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on 2 Arts Council England funded tours of 34 rugby clubs in the North of England.
The hour long ‘show’ is a reworking of the Faust myth where a talented young man is tempted to sell his soul to the devil for a period of fame and fortune. This play is set in a professional rugby club where a new young player falls under the influence of an evil (or psychotic) physiotherapist grooming him to take performance enhancing drugs. It is a black comedy with, frankly, filthy rugby songs and some male nudity. It is updated before each show to satirise current events.
It carries a powerful message for young people to ‘be their own person’ and ‘live clean’ and will be at various venues including the South Shields and Westoe Club, Sunderland Rugby Club, The Customs House and Bede’s World Museum in early November 2015 – just after The Rugby World Cup ends with England winning the trophy!!
